World’s largest manufacturer of bath and kitchen plumbing fixtures.
Three of five bathrooms in the United States contain American Standard products.
Famous buildings using the company’s Trane brand of heating and cooling systems include Pro Player Stadium in Miami; Staples Center in Los Angeles; SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida; and the Washington Monument.
American Standard comprises three business units: bath and kitchen plumbing fixtures (its American Standard, Ideal Standard, JADO, and Porcher brands), heating and cooling systems (Trane and American Standard) and its vehicle controls business (WABCO), which makes vehicle braking, stability, suspension and transmission control systems. The United States accounts for a little more than one-half of American Standard’s sales. In an effort to spur growth, the company has introduced new products, expanded its marketing, and built brand awareness. The company subscribes to the Six Sigma philosophy of management, which emphasizes efficiency and accountability and can result in rigorous employee reviews.
