Agency.com, a leading interactive marketing and technology agency founded in 1995, appears to do it all: from Web site design and implementation to technology integration, online marketing, and brand management. This range of work also covers interactive television and wireless technology. In 1996, Agency.com’s cofounders sold their shares to Omnicom Group, who with its $12 million investment facilitated the company’s growth via acquisitions of smaller interactive agencies including Ketchum Advertising. It then went public three years later. When the dotcom bust followed soon thereafter, Agency.com tried to rally with staff cuts and a major restructuring through 2000 and 2001. Seneca Investments, an e-services holding company formed by Omnicom and Pegasus Partners II, eventually bought the company’s outstanding shares in May; in 2003, Omnicom acquired it outright and turned it into a subsidiary. Agency.com has offices in Chicago, Dallas, New York City, and San Francisco, as well as in Amsterdam, Brussels, and London.
